MEET THE 2021-2022 EXECTIVE BOARD
President
Elizabeth Rangel
Hello! I am a current Junior at Florida Atlantic University majoring in Chemistry with a Biochemistry concentration. During my freshman year of college, I joined AMWA with the hopes I could network with women in the field of medicine who stand behind the same values as me. Those values being equality for all in medicine (both patient and healthcare worker side), woman empowerment, and representation of minorities in medicine. Thankfully, almost three years later, I am one of the proud presidents of this student-led organization at Florida Atlantic University. This organization has given me so many great opportunities that have empowered me to become the best version of myself, given me lifelong friendships and connections, and shaped me to be a great future physician. Aside from all of my studying, I thoroughly enjoy being involved on campus in another organization, that of which is greek. In due time with my B.S degree earned here at FAU, I hope to apply to medical school and pursue my life-long dream of being a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon. My hobbies include painting, fashion, spending time with my dogs, and being close with family and friends. A piece of advice that always keeps me going is sometimes, we need to give ourselves more credit, and avoid being our own worst enemies!

I am currently a junior at Florida Atlantic University majoring in Chemistry with concentration in Biochemistry. I am an honors student with the University's Honors Program. As a newly appointed officer I am very excited to be a part of the journey of showing other students many of the amazing aspects that come in medical studies. I want to inspire and teach others all of the ways in which they can be successful in fulfilling their ambitions and dreams as well as I would also love to learn from their own experiences. I frequently volunteer for the FAU College of Medicine as a standardized patient for the medical students to practice on and to gain experience with patient connection. I am very interested in specializing in Dermatology as well as Anesthesiology. If not in the library studying, you can definitely find me at the FAU gym, as not only I work there but I enjoy working out. My current hobbies include rock climbing, fashion and sewing. I am extremely grateful to be a part of this amazing organization. Without failure there is no success!
I am a Junior at Florida Atlantic University and I am an English major on the Pre-Medical track. I was born and raised in South Florida and I love to dance and travel the world! I joined the AMWA undergraduate chapter with FAU in 2020 to connect with other women that have similar interests in the medical field and to empower one another throughout our Pre-Health careers. After I graduate, I plan on going to medical school to pursue my dreams of becoming an Emergency Room Physician. I currently have experience as a Pharmacy Technician and I am shadowing physicians in various fields to get hands-on experience and learn more about the medical field. Up to this point, I have shadowed physicians in urology, internal medicine, and cosmetic dermatology. All specialties were fascinating and it was so interesting to see the day in the life of the incredible physicians! Fuel your passion and always believe in yourself!
I am the Co-Director of Recruitment for the 2021-2022 academic school year! I am a third-year student at Florida Atlantic University majoring in Neuroscience and Behavioral will be graduating Summer 2022. After obtaining my BS, I aspire to attend medical school and specialize in Obstetrics and Gynecologist (OBGYN) Outside of AMWA. I am involved in undergraduate research in Dr. Fields’ lab where I study cancer chemical biology and proteases of the extracellular matrix. Aside from school, you can find me at a coffee shop, gym, or spending time with family and friends. I joined AMWA my freshman year in university because I was interested in networking with other empowering women in the community and fell in love with women’s health. AMWA is the reason that I am so passionate about being an OBGYN in the future and advocating for women’s healthcare rights. I hope you all enjoy our community as much as we do and make strong connections along the way!
